Description
When we set out the plans for the best directory script on the Internet we had several things in mind. The first was to overcome a few basic problems, and push our problem solving technology into the market. Allowing users to submit new categories along with their website promotes growth within your directory, which is one of the most important factors in the success of any directory. We created a way to divide submissions into two types - site submissions and category submissions. In the administrative dialogue you can separate these and focus on what YOU want to do. As a side-effect new categories will also no longer be left empty.
Since these initial innovations we've created so much more. Our latest priority has been to develop tools to help fight against the spread of spam, scraper and bad submissions. Click here to read more about what we have accomplished in the 4th version of the script.
Front end appearance was our next priority. There are a lot of directory scripts on the Internet - and there are none I have seen that really conquered this problem. We set out to overcome design faults like cluttering, colour clashing, and inappropriate spacing. As a result we now own the most aesthetically pleasing directory script on the Internet. We feel that we've really excelled in this area. The latest versions of the script seperate the coding from the design - so it is very easy to create a custom design.
Another problem we felt we had to overcome was the way websites are submitted. Long drawn-out submissions discourage people from submitting their sites, and as a result you end up with an empty directory. Instead, we reduced submission to four simple fields;
-Website Address
-Title
-Email Address
-Description
Search Engine Friendliness was one of the highest priorities on our list. This is where many other directory scripts fail. We understand that one of the sole purposes for directory creation is to grab the attention of search engines. This is why we used static-looking pages, flowing through 100% static linking. We have also allowed the option of Dynamic and Static links within the directory. Dynamic linking uses redirection to minimize the loss of PageRank, while static links are normal links pointing directly to the website.
As well as these great new innovations we crafted our script to have these key features, separated into two categories:
User-Front:
- The look and feel of the directory is completely customisable. The coding has been seperated from the design so that you can easily create custom templates.
- Includes a pagination, where you can cycle through 25 links a page.
- Pagination has also been added to the "previous search" listings. New in 4.0.
- Static pages throughout the directory help search engines to index a maximum amount of pages with ease. This is one of the greatest qualities of our script. Unlike many other scripts we don't use dynamic URL's like index.php?cate=12. These repel search engines, and stop them from indexing your entire directory. Instead we use static URL's like /top/Home/Arts-And-Culture.
- Includes a fast and powerful search function.
- 'Previous Searches' help increase the amount of content-filled pages you have in your directory. This gives you more weight in search engines.
- Users have the power to vote for links. Voting helps to position websites in both the directory, and the search.
- Users can submit their link to "Premium Links" for a set price by you. Easy integration with payment facilities such as paypal.
- Custom page to show once payment has been made. New in 4.0.
- Custom news/blog pages. New in 4.0.
- Icons shown next to categories. New in 4.0.
- Categories shown in search results. New in 4.0.
- Most Ranked and Newest Listings pages. New in 4.0.
- Menu's, Content, Footers and Headers are completely customisable, so you can distinguish your directory from the rest.
